Kemari Averett is an American football tight end for the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats.
Early life and high school
Averett grew up in Atlanta, GA, and attended Grady High School. He played wide receiver, defensive end, and tight end for the Knights football team.[1] He finished his senior season with 55 receptions for 796 yards and 11 touchdowns.[2] He was ranked a three-star recruit by Rivals.[3]
College career
2017-2018 season
Averett attended the University of Louisville, where he played for the Lousiville Cardinals football team from 2017 to 2018.
In 2018, Averett was arrested for threatening his ex-girlfriend at gunpoint.[4]. A woman accused Averett of rape on October 8, 2018. Louisville suspended him from the team indefinitely on October 16.[5] The grand jury decided there was not enough evidence to indict Kemari.[6]
He played two seasons at Louisville,[7] catching 15 passes for 144 yards and 3 TDs.
2021 Season
After not playing for two seasons, he returned to the football field in 2021. He finished the season with 52 receptions, 888 yards, and 11 touchdowns with the Wildcats. Averett was named FCS Coaches All-American in 2021.[8]
Personal Life
He is the son of Ebony Wilson.
