Kazi Shahidul Islam (1968-) is a popular dramatist in Bangladesh. He penned a lot of dramas which got huge popularity among the people of Bangladesh. Mr. Islam is also involved in organic agriculture movement. He collects rare seeds of different crops. He has collected more than 27 rice species which were about to abolish from the society.[2] Besides he founded a cultural organization named Ei Banglay that has its activities in Narayanganj, Sreemangal and Habiganj. Besides a dramatist, he is a farmer. He cultivates those collected species of rice in his own organic farm situated at Gandharbapur, Sreemangal.

Biography

Kazi Shahidul Islam is one of the most popular TV dramatists in Bangladesh. He became popular among the Bangalees after he had written his first drama series Laal Nil Beguni. He has been writing ceaselessly since then and earned popularity among the people. His major drama series are Khorkhuta, Priyo Din Priyo Raat,[3] Babui Pakhir Basa, Tomar Doyay Valo Achi Maa, Kaktarua[4], The Director Natok. He wrote many single dramas like Keno Ei Cheletike Bibaho Kora Thik Hoibe Na, Paan Pata Mukh, Jogoti.

Early life

Kazi Shahidul Islam was born in Chashara, Narayanganj. He passed his childhood there. From the very childhood, he was connected with many cultural groups of his area. He graduated from Jahangirnagar University in Theater.

Marriage and children

Amina Khatun Doly is his wife. She gave birth to a girl named Progga Paromita Kheya.

Philosophical and/or political views

Mr. Islam was involved in politics when he was a student of Jahangirnagar University. He was a member of Somajtantrik Chatro Front, a communism based student wing of Bangladesh Somajtantrik Dol. At one point, he left politics.

Published works

His first book Tomar Doyay Valo Achi Maa was published on Feb, 2009. It is a novel based on his drama series with the same name.
