Katy Loudon is a Scottish National Party councillor for the Cambuslang East ward within South Lanarkshire Council.[1] Loudon is also a candidate in the 2025 Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse by-election.[2] She is also the SNP's Local Government Convenor.[3]
First elected a councillor in 2017, she also contested the 2023 Rutherglen and Hamilton West by-election, and subsequently ran for the Rutherglen constituency in the 2024 General Election, losing in both instances to Labour candidate Michael Shanks.[4]
Before becoming a councillor, Loudon was a primary school teacher for near 10 years.[5] She was also an avid campaigner on issues such as Scottish independence and period poverty.[5] Loudon also works as Parliamentary Assistant and Communications Officer to Clare Haughey MSP.
