Katie Callaway (born October 08, 1991) is an American actress, writer, producer, and singer. She is known for portraying the role of Crystal in ABC's Nashville (2012). She was crowned Miss Nashville by the Miss America Organization in 2011.[1][2]
Early life and education
Callaway was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on October 08, 1991. She is the daughter of William and Pam Callaway.
In 2010, she completed high school at Ravenwood High School. She then joined Auburn University but transferred to Belmont University in the second year and completed her BFA in musical theatre in 2014.
During her time at Belmont, she appeared in six different musical productions, including the first collegiate production of Les Miserables. In 2014, she won the first-place national championship title in the Open Individual Event Dramatic Interpretation and holds more state championship titles for different competitive events.[3]
Career
Callaway started her career by doing shows with Pull-Tight Players and Towne Centre Theatre as a stage artist. She got her first role as List_of_Nashville_cast_members|Christel in ABC's television drama Nashville_(season_4)|Nashville and appeared in several other films and TV series, including General Hospital, The_Family_Business_(American_TV_series)|The Family Business, Inheritance_(2020_film)|Inheritance, and Interns.[4][5][6]
She has also worked as an executive producer and writer for Jess (2014), Nosedive (2016), and Millennial Dating, or Lack Thereof (2017).
Callaway was crowned Miss Nashville by Miss America Organization in 2011. In October 2014, she held the Brentwood title for the Miss Tennessee USA pageant.
Personal life
In March 2010, she was diagnosed with a Chondroblastoma, a brain tumor located in her hip's femoral head. She later had successful tumor removal surgery.
She uses her experiences to raise money and awareness for Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt through her platform, Callaway for a Cure.
