Kate Andrews (born 24 June 1990) is an American journalist. She is the economics editor of The Spectator.[3]

Education

Andrews received her higher education at The University of St. Andrews, where she was awarded a Masters degree in International Relations and Philosophy.[citation needed] Shortly after completing her degree, Andrews joined both the campaign teams, Romney for President, and Linda McMahon for Senate 2012.[citation needed]

Career

Andrews started her career at the libertarian think tank, Adam Smith Institute where she was a communications manager, before being made head of communications in March, 2015.[citation needed]

In February 2016, she left the Adam Smith Institute to join the Institute of Economic Affairs, where she eventually became an Associate Director.[4]

She then joined The Spectator in November 2019 as an economics correspondent, later becoming the economics editor in January 2020. [5]

She also has a weekly column in The Daily Telegraph. [6]

Andrews has made multiple television appearances, including Good Morning Britain, Politics Live, andQuestion Time. [7]

Political views

Kate Andrews has been described as a centre-right thinker who is "liberal on social and foreign policy issues".[8]

She has been a vocal critic of the UK's National Health Service.[9] She has advocated for a reformation of the public service which would introduce market forces and competition like those of EU countries such as Germany and Switzerland.[10]

She also criticised theBritish Broadcasting Corporation's license-fee-paying model, suggesting that the company should adopt a Netflix-style subscription service instead.[11]

In 2016, Andrews defended gun rights in the USA. She argued that the U.S. government should instead focus on improving mental health services and gun education. [12]

Personal life

Andrews is a supporter of Newcastle United Football Club.[13]
