Kartik Vashist, born in Karnal, Haryana, India is a professional footballer, who has represented India in IFA7 World Cup held at Guatemala, Central America in the year 2017 and led the Indian team under the banner of Mini-football Association of India in the World’s biggest 8-A side football tournament: Continental Football League as a captain which was held in Moscow, Russia in May 2018. Vashist is also an All India Football Federation certified D-License coach.

Early life

Vashist was born on 18 January 1996. He did his schooling at Haryana Police Public School, Madhuban and he has Bachelor of Arts degree to his name from Pt. CL Sharma Govt. PG College, Sector 14, Karnal, Haryana

Vashist started playing at the tender age of 8 for his school. Being weak in academics, his parents did not support him initially. But eventually, his father, Mohinder Vashist became his pillar of support. There was a time when Vashist could not afford a pair of shoes and he was instructed by his coach that he shows up with shoes if he wanted to get on the grass. His coach, Shakti Avinash recognized and groomed Vashist to become the good footballer that he is today.

Vashist was often applauded since his school days for his talent and he participated in a number of district, state and city state championships. He also captained his college team consecutively for three years.

Career

Vashist realized his dream to play for India when he scored a goal for his team to win a gold medal at Mir Iqbal Hussain Trophy, Coca-Cola Cup, 2011. This made the local media houses recognize his talent.

In 2015, Vashist was chosen to be a part of the Indo-Nepal youth exchange program. He represented his state team at the Santosh Trophy, Senior National Championship.

In 2016, Vashist was one of the young talented players to participate in the Helsinki Cup held in Finland. Vashist was one of those few players who got a chance to play at the international venue, Bolt Arena.

Vashist signed a contract with Pride Sports F.C. and represented them in the Sam Soccer International Cup in August 2016.

In 2017, Vashist was appointed as the General Secretary of the Haryana Mini-Football Association by the Vice-President of the World Minifootball Federation, Vitthal Shirgaonkar.

In 2019, Vashist managed the Indian team under the banner of the Mini-Football Association of India in the 2019 WMF World Cup held at Perth, Australia and also coached the team.

Personal life

Vashist loves trekking, traveling, exploring different cultures, and is a movie buff. Nevertheless, running and cycling are his favorite cardio. During his free time, he spends time by playing sports with his friends.
