Karl Dawson (born 26 January 1989), better known by his stage name Dame Stuffy, is an Irish radio presenter, actor, and drag performer. As Dame Stuffy, he is regarded as the "Queen of Ballymun" and is celebrated for live singing cabaret, comedy, and audience interaction.

Early life and education

Karl Maurice Dempsey was born on 26 January 1989 in Dublin, Ireland. He began performing at an early age in theatre and television, earning acting credits in Irish series such as Fair City and The Clinic, and films like Angela's Ashes and Michael Collins.[1]

Radio career

Dawson is best known for hosting weekend breakfast shows on Dublin’s 98FM: *Big Breakfast with Rebecca and Brendan* and *The Sound of the City at Night*.[2]

Dame Stuffy

Dame Stuffy debuted in the early 2010s as a drag persona combining live vocals, stand-up comedy, and audience interaction often backed by a live band, distinguishing herself from lip-sync drag performances.[1][2]

She has headlined multiple sold‑out cabaret nights at the Civic Theatre (Tallaght), starred as the Genie in *Aladdin* at Axis Ballymun, and reached the finals of RTÉ’s *Last Singer Standing* in 2021.[1][3]
