Karim Ghaly, born on January 20th, 2002 is an Egyptian karate athlete who has been representing the National Egyptian Karate Team since 2010.

Early Life and Background

Karim Ghaly was born in Giza, Egypt to parents Sherine Mamdouh a PhD holder in French Literature and Waleed Ghaly, a lawyer. From a young age, Ghaly displayed a natural aptitude for athletic activities and participated in various sports, including soccer and swimming. He was competitive in swimming, winning medals in local and regional competitions. However, it was his passion for karate that truly ignited his competitive spirit. Ghaly's interest in karate developed when he began training at a multi-sport facility at the age of 4. With the guidance and support of his parents, he progressed and improved his skills in martial arts.

Education: Karim graduated at the Lycée Francais du Caire in June 2020 Currently studying Biomedical, Mechanical Engineering and Computing Technology in University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Canada

Career: Karim Ghaly's karate career has started by participating in local and national competitions in Egypt. His performances led to his selection for the National Egyptian Karate team in 2010 marking the beginning of his international career.

One of the notable challenges was moving to a different country to continue his studies. Karim has been able to adapt and recreate a system of training that helped him maintain his top position within the Egyptian National Karate Team, being the first option for the individual kata event for African Continental Championship held in Morocco in 2023.

Ghaly has also achieved success at the junior and cadet levels, including medals in the World Junior Championships and the African Games. His consistent performances have earned him recognition as one of Egypt's established karate athletes.
