Karda Kardukhi ( pen name of Phridon Kardava (born March 11, 1974) - Georgian writer, translator[1] ( Refugee from occupied Abkhazia)[2].

Biography

He was born on March 11, 1974 in the village of Shroma, Sukhumi district. He graduated from high school and in 1991 entered the Sukhumi branch of the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. He graduated in 1996. In 1999-2004 he worked as a history teacher at the Euro 2000 school in Batumi. He still lives in Batumi and works in the archives. He has a wife - poet Ketevan Giorgadze and a son - Kuji Kardava. His first Story "Angry Ponto" was published in the "Adjara" newspaper in 1994. In the same year, the story "Star" was published in the collection "Until the sun rises." He published translations of American poetry. Since 2001, his stories have been published in magazines: "Matobi", "Tsiskari", "Literaturuli Palitra", "Chorokhi", "chveni mtserloba"[3].In 2001 he received the Omega Prize for Best Translation for his translation of Edgar Lee Masters' Sphoon River Anthology[4]. Participated in the project of the publishing house "Intellect": “All Georgian translations of one masterpiece” (Walt Whitman „O Captain! My Captain!“, Rudyard Kipling „if“). In 2011 his novel "Soul Dancer on a Thread"[5] was published in the magazine "Chveni mtserloba“ and in 2013 the publishing house "Saunje" was published as a book under the editorship of Rostom Chkheidze. In 2015 was published a collection of his short stories " churchkhela of popcorn ". His story "Teddy Bear" was published in the "Literary Newspaper" in 2017, and in 2018 in Bulgaria, in the collection "More". In a competition organized by the magazine Teacher and the online newspaper mastsavlebeli.ge, his story "Avoidance" entered the top ten of the best stories. In the competition announced by the publishing house "Palitra L" in 2020:- "Become the author of a bestseller ",- His novel „Sellers Of Hermes“ became a joint favorite of the people and the jury and was published as a book[6].
