Karana is a small village of 464 hectares in Garhi Tehsil in Banswara district, also known as City of Hundred Islands in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Karana depends on Banswara, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, One tank, Two tubewells, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - One river, One canal and Two springs. Karana is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Karana's pin code is 327605[4], and village code is 03381100. The area of Karana is segregated as 115 hectares irrigated area, 180 hectares unirrigated, the 93 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 8 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Karana has Two banks and Two credit societies for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Banswara to sell juggary and make their living.
