Kanasar is a small village of 889 hectares in Pokaran Tehsil in Jaisalmer district, nicknamed ""The Golden city"" in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Kanasar depends on POKARAN, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, Two Wells supply, Two tanks, Two tubewells, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Kanasar is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Kanasar's pin code is 342307[4], and village code is 02056900. The area of Kanasar is segregated as 394 hectares unirrigated, the 493.6 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 1.59 hectare area not available for cultivation.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of POKARAN and Jaisalmer to sell ghee and make their living.
