Kamikaze Veggies
Kamikaze Veggies is a stealth-adventure game developed by Red Limb Studio. The project presents an abstract vision in which vegetables are the dominant "species" on Earth. "Kamikaze Veggies" is characterized by an absurd-driven story that introduces the player to the world of the vegetable war. The game will be released in Early Access in the first quarter of 2022 on Steam (service).[1]
Gameplay
The gameplay of "Suicide Vegetables" is about performing war missions.[2] To complete the mission the player must achieve the main task. The player can also go back to previous levels to improve their results. Each mission has a budget for recruiting fighters. The budget increases or decreases depending on the difficulty of the tasks. After the player chooses his team of veggie-warriors the mission begins. The vegetable lands on the map after a parachute jump and begins hostilities. The warrior has a choice of several types of grenades and a suicide blast. There are also many objects on the map that can be used to fight the enemy. Warriors perform their mission individually. When a warrior dies on the battlefield, another takes his place. The player loses when the last Kamikaze dies. The mission’s main task is usually to destroy the "Nexus", which is an object closely guarded by the enemy. The quests can also involve other subversive actions that destroy the enemy's plans. During the mission, the player can get a maximum of 3 stars, but only one is needed to get to the next level. The player can find hidden items on the map resulting in more points and stars. Cut scenes are an additional part of the gameplay. The player will find there an interesting story, funny sentences, and motivations to play.
The plot of the game
The creators of the game "Kamikaze Veggies" use the symbolism of the World War II in their project. The game describes the world of Thousands of years after the extinction of human civilization on Earth.[3] The greenhouse effect wreaked havoc, cutting the vegetable population in half. High temperatures have depleted the lands, causing hunger and disease. The sun's rays have made many vegetables go mad. Joseph Pommodorov, which is the vegetable counterpart of Joseph Stalin, became one such vegetable. He has manipulated red vegetables with his hatred of others, blaming the disaster on vegetables with a different colored skin. He commissioned scientists to create a cruel variety of GMO Peppers and began to conquer the world. In a short time, he has taken over the world in a brutal and cruel way, calling himself emperor and ordering the enslaved vegetables to work for the red empire. The oppressed vegetables have formed an "underground" organization in which the boldest, strongest and craziest vegetables are selected. They are trained for secret subversive missions and their battalion has become famous under the name "Kamikaze Veggies".
Development process
Work on the game began in August 2020, and the official release date of the game is not yet known.[4] The game is created on the Unity engine by three programmers. The name of the game has changed during production.[5] The first official name of the game was "Suicide Vegetables," but the creators changed it because the name was controversial and was too risky in the process of marketing the game."Kamikaze Veggies" has been part of festivals such as PAX online, Steam Next Fest, IndieX and Gamescom.
