Kakul Srivastava is an American technology and music entrepreneur and the CEO of cloud-based sample library and music creation platform Splice.[1] She was co-founder and former CEO of enterprise app studio Tomfoolery, Inc., and was the CEO of tech consultancy Project Sublime. She has held top executive roles at Yahoo!, GitHub, Flickr, Adobe,[2] and WeWork. Srivastava is considered an early adopter and leading voice in the use of artificial intelligence in music[3] and advocate for creator rights in the AI space.[4]

Education

Srivastava holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from MIT and an MBA in Management of Technology from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.[5]

Career

2000s: Adobe, Yahoo!

Srivastava began her career in 2001 at Adobe.[6] From 2004 to 2011 she held roles at Yahoo!, including General Manager of Flickr[7] and Yahoo!'s Vice President of Apps,[8] overseeing among other things the re-architecture of Yahoo Mail.[9]

2011–2022: Tiny Speck, Tomfoolery, Inc., WeWork, Adobe

From 2011–2012 Srivastava served as VP, Product and Operations at video game company Tiny Speck.[10] In 2012 she co-founded Tomfoolery, Inc., an enterprise app studio working to create what Srivastava described as "an entirely new kind of collaboration toolset, built from the ground up, for the modern worker,"[11] and served as CEO of the startup[12] until its acquisition by Yahoo! in 2014.[13]

She was Chief Product Officer at WeWork from 2014–2015[14] and VP, Product Management and Marketing at GitHub from 2015–2017.[9][15]

Alongside her corporate positions, Srivastava was board co-chair of Cure Violence from 2012–2014 and CEO of tech consultancy Project Sublime from 2015–2018.[16] Through Project Sublime she worked with companies including Adobe and organizations including Code for America and Hackbright Academy, a coding camp for women.

In 2016 Fast Company named Srivastava one of its "Most Creative People in Business."[17]

In 2018 she returned to Adobe as VP, Creative Cloud Experience and Engagement,[18][9] overseeing end-to-end experience for the company's Creative Cloud platform[19] and building and scaling desktop, web, and mobile platforms.[20]

2021–present: Splice

In 2022 Srivastava was named CEO of Splice[21] after having been a member of the company's Board of Directors since the previous year.[8] She led the company through its release of an AI-powered mobile app;[22] first integration with a digital audio workstation (DAW), PreSonus StudioOne;[23] release of a feature allowing users to record sounds onto the platform using their phone's microphone;[24] development of jazz and country[25] sample libraries; and acquisition of virtual instrument sample library producer Spitfire Audio.[26]

Srivastava was named to Billboard's "Women in Music" Executives list in 2023, 2024, and 2025.[27][28]
