Justin Frieden (born July 8, 1991) is an American film and game composer and arranger working in Japan.[1][2] He is known for composing scores for films such as True Beauty 女神降臨,[3] TV series, such as Medium 霊媒探偵城塚翡翠, and games, such as Final Fantasy. Frieden has also produced arrangements for artists, including 丸山隆平 (Ryuhei Maruyama). Stylistically, he is known for often combining traditional classical arrangements with rock and synthesized musical elements to create hybrid orchestral scores.[4][5][6][7][8][9][10] Frieden is known to work closely with Square Enix. He is also known to produce musical works under the name Justin Night.
Biography
Justin Frieden was born in California, U.S. on July 8, 1991. He studied classical piano and began writing music at a young age. Frieden started playing guitar as a teenager and was a member of rock bands in high school in Los Angeles. He later returned to his classical roots and was admitted to the College of Creative Studies to study music composition at the University of California at Santa Barbara.
Following his interest in video games and anime, Frieden moved to Tokyo after graduating from university, honing his skills composing for films, commercials, TV shows, and video games. Frieden is also an experienced ADR coordinator and studio manager, having worked with Japanese casts on Hollywood films, most notably Martin Scorsese's Silence and Transformers: The Last Knight. His recent work includes composing scores for the Final Fantasy game series and films such as True Beauty 女神降臨.[3]
