Juliana (Porreca) Hale[1] is a multi-faceted American recording artist, singer, songwriter, musician, actor[2] and painter. She plays multiple instruments guitar, piano, bass, flute and ukulele[3][4].

Early life

Juliana (Porreca) Hale was born on July 15, 1999. She is the daughter of Jenny and Craig Woldt, the owners of Splash Box Marketing, an advertising and ADA compliance company from Tennessee and step-father Damian Porreca, who is property manager at a real estate company in Southern California. Hale is part Italian with Abruzzis roots, Czech and English. She has two siblings including Jessica Porreca[5] and Oliver Levi, who is a violinist[6]. Hale also has three step siblings.

History

Hale was born in Laguna Hills, California[7] and moved to Nashville, TN[8] at the age of 10 with her family to pursue her music.

She started her career at age 12 by singing in local restaurants and bars for tips. While Hale was still in middle school she released her debut EP "Dance in the Rain" recorded by Shelly Rann and Howard Mayberry[9]. By age 17 she had written over 250 original compositions.

Her sound has been cited as pop and dark pop[10][11].

In 2018 Hale released the song “Overrated”[12] the follow-up to her first single “Home” from her EP, Small Talk[13] Produced by Grammy Award-winner, Skidd Mills and Co-written with Noah Henson (Kane Brown, Pillar)[14]. Her Small Talk EP was also compared to Florence Welch by Sleepingbagstudios.ca[15]. In Nov. of 2018 she released a cover of “Little Drummer Boy” Combining Pop and EDM styles[16]

Hale co wrote her single “Cupid”[17] with Skidd MIlls which premiered on Valentines Day in 2019 on Thriveglobal.com and was and was released along with a video directed by filmmaker Jake Parker[18][19]. During that same year she also released the modern pop song “Dangerous” which was Produced by Jared Lee Gosselin[20]. Neufutur.com compared Hale to the singer-songwriter style of Pink and Lady Gaga[21].

Hale often writes about relationships[22] as she does with her song "Dangerous"[23] and “One Last Time” Produced by Grammy Award Winning and nominated producer Jared Lee Gosselin and Nick Morzov for ADIO Media Group[24]. Co written with songwriter Rama Duke.[25]

Hale released an EDM style remix version of "Dangerous" that is a remix by Kumera[26]. In 2021 Hale released her single "Chill (So Serious)"[27] on 3Thirteen Entertainment Group/ eOne[28]. Produced by Earl Cohen (Lady Gaga, Pink, Usher, Whitney Houston[29] and mixed and mastered by Derek Minor. "Chill" was written in 2020, during the initial Coronavirus outbreak; the song was written over a series of several zoom calls, with the initial vocals being recorded remotely due to Covid-19 restrictions. Once limitations were lifted the song was eventually recorded in Earl Cohen’s studio in New Jersey[30].

Hale is also managed by 3Thirteen Entertainment Group (D12, Fat Joe, Saving Abel, DJ Lethal)[31].

Hale’s single "Crazy" was released on September 17th, 2021 and features Derek Minor, who also produced the song. The music video was released on October 1, 2021 and was directed by Robby Starbuck[32]. She also released the urban and hip hop influenced song "Doll House" on November 12th, 2021. Featuring Wande[33] and produced by Derek Minor[34].

Hale has performed at SXSW[35][36], Ubbi Dubbi, Breakaway, Number Fest, Freaky Deaky, and Common Ground, supported Marianas Trench (band) on their US tour, and shared stages with Halsey and Snoop Dogg.

Hale opened for Flo Rida[37] and Brandi Cyrus at Leather & Laces Official Pre-Superbowl Party, hosted by Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg. She's performed at radio stations across the United States including the Corner 106.1 FM WCNR[38].

Hale had her first acting role as "Tiny" in the movie "And You Call Yourself a Christian"[39] that will be released on December 24, 2021 on Amazon Prime and Roku. She also had a song placement in the award winning short film Club City in 2020[40]
