Judy Phu is a Vietnamese-American cinematographer and director based in Los Angeles, California. She is best known for her work in projects such as Abortion: Stories Women Tell and Far East of Eden.[1]
Education
Judy Phu has a Bachelor of Arts in both Rhetoric Arts Studies and Visual Arts Practice from the University of California, Berkeley. She also has a Master of Fine Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles in both disciplines of Directing and Cinematography.[2]
Career
Judy Phu was the Director of Photography for “Abortions: Stories Women Tell” an HBO documentary that attempts to provide a non-political insight on women and their relationship with abortion. [3]
Various projects that she has photographed have been screened at festivals such as Sundance, Tribeca, Toronto, and Cannes. Overtime, Judy has collaborated with directors such as Andrew Ahn, Diane Paragas, Amy York Rubin, Phil Morrison, Eva Vives, and producers Deniese Davis and Natalie Qasabian.
