Joze, born Josephinne Zelaya, is a Latin pop singer, songwriter, and actress. She gained public attention with the release of her single, "Me Llamas", in 2025, produced by Latin Grammy-affiliated producer Jhon Paul “El Increíble”. Her music blends pop, EDM, and Latin genres with emotionally cinematic vocals.[1]

Career

Joze began her artistic journey studying acting at the New York Film Academy (NYFA) and later trained in the Meisner, Method, and Stella Adler techniques in both New York and Los Angeles. She appeared in the short film, The House, the independent film, Jungle Law, and was cast as a featured extra in the studio film, Project X, filmed at Warner Bros. Ranch. Her appearance was ultimately cut due to compensation issues related to her immigration status.

In her music career she collaborated with Grammy-winning mix engineer Jon Gass, known for his work with Michael Jackson, Madonna, Whitney Houston, and Janet Jackson. She refined her songwriting under the mentorship of Edgar Cortázar (Luis Miguel, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato) and developed her sound further with Toby Sandoval (Black Eyed Peas, Paulina Rubio, Laura Pausini). She also worked with international producer Prince Saheb, known for collaborations with Whiz Khalifa, Lil Wayne, and Jay Sean.

Joze took a hiatus from her career due to immigration-related circumstances. During this time, she prioritized personal development and family life, returning in 2025 with a renewed identity and vision. Now performing as Joze, she released her comeback single "Me Llamas", produced by Jhon Paul 'El Increíble', whose credits include Bad Bunny, Farruko, Nicky Jam, and Greeicy. The single marked her return to the public eye and was followed by the release of her debut EP, Me Llamo Joze, distributed by The Orchard, a subsidiary of Sony Music, and released under her independent label, Iconic Music Group.[2][3][4]

The EP includes the song "Love", a collaboration with Grammy-winning reggae icon Mykal Rose, which fuses reggae textures with Latin pop and electronic production. Joze's music has received editorial attention across Latin America and been described as intimate, emotionally powerful, and genre-fluid.[5][6][7]

Musical style and influence

Joze's music incorporates elements of Latin pop, ballads, electronic influences, and reggae-pop. Her vocal style is often described as cinematic, influenced by her background in classical soprano and acting. Her lyrics address themes such as vulnerability, love, and identity. She writes and performs in both Spanish and English, reflecting her bicultural background.[8][9]

Acting career

Joze began acting in student theater and short films while studying at NYFA in New York. She later participated in independent film projects in Los Angeles, including “The House” and “Jungle Law”. She was cast in “Project X” as a featured extra, but her role was cut due to paperwork limitations.
