Joshua Joseph Byrne is an Australian environmental scientist and landscape architect, known for his role as a presenter on ABC TV (Australian TV channel) Gardening Australia|Gardening Australia.[1]

Biography

Byrne was born in Esperance, Western Australia.[2] While studying environmental science at Murdoch University, Byrne lived in a Roommate|sharehouse with other students and established a working permaculture garden, leading to Byrne appearing as a guest in two episodes of Gardening Australia, first appearing in 2000.[3] Byrne was subsequently invited to join Gardening Australia as a presenter, but declined the offer in favour of overseas travel in Africa and Israel.[4]

Upon return to Australia, Byrne joined Gardening Australia as a presenter in 2003.[5][6] He was awarded a PhD in 2016 by Murdoch University for his thesis on water conservation in urban gardens.[1]

He is Adjunct professor|Adjunct Professor at Murdoch University's Research Centre for Water, Energy and Waste , and a Senior research fellow|Senior Research Fellow at the School of Design and the Built Environment at Curtin University|Curtain University.[5]

Byrne resides in Hilton, Western Australia.[7]
