Writer

Comments on The Trivium

Monir Nasser prefaced The Trivium of É Realizações publishing house, participating in lectures on the book. Without mentioning his sources or locating his theses in the writings of the pedagogue, according to the writer, Comenius's method would have caused harm to education by emphasizing universal teaching of virtually all human sciences from an early childhood, with a utilitarian sense, which would have impaired the formation of individuals with a more accurate critical sense.

Teacher

As a teacher he influenced many people, including entrepreneurs, students, teachers, economists, liberal professionals, presidents of entities, journalists. He showed great interest and skill in the great classics: Aristotle, Plato, St. Augustine, Boethius, Dante, Shakespeare, Dostoyevsky, Kafka and Chesterton.[6]

He was the director of the program Expeditions to the World of Culture. It was held in São Paulo, Curitiba, Londrina and Paranavaí. Nasser had several volunteer students.

French language teacher

Monir presided, from 2008 to 2011, the curitibana headquarters of the Alliance Française.

Criticism of Brazilian education

Monir was a strict critic of the Brazilian educational system and a propagator of the need for a return to what he called "true teaching" through literature and philosophy. In one of his lectures, he summarized:

"What we call 'education' is actually teaching. And this teaching is just a distribution of social promotions in the form of diplomas, from which no one thinks they will learn anything."

Death

Nasser died on March 16, 2013, in Curitiba. He suffered a stroke while preparing to teach. The body was buried in the Green Water cemetery.

Legacy

Monir figured, along with figures such as Olavo de Carvalho, in the set of personalities responsible for the revival of studies in traditional knowledge in Brazil, particularly working in the teaching of great Western literature and general culture.

A society cannot be rich without being smart before.[7]
