His mother, Victoria Custodia Pedro (Marina), was born in Torres Vedras, Portugal, in 1939, while his father, Jerome Howard Schwartz (Jerry), was born in Brooklyn in 1932. Growing up, Jonnie had a unique upbringing, as his parents divorced when he was a child. He spent weekdays with his mother and weekends with his father, commuting back and forth between their homes via the Port Authority Bus Station on West 42nd Street.
2. During his time in his father's building in Chelsea, Jonnie discovered his passion for music. He would often hang out in a video store located in the building, where he had a chance encounter with Frank Ferrer, a 17-year-old metal enthusiast. Frank, sporting a leather MC jacket adorned with heavy metal band patches, captivated Jonnie with his deep knowledge of heavy metal music. They spent countless hours discussing their favorite bands, albums, and the intricacies of the genre. One day, Frank's boss informed him that Jonnie couldn't hang out in the store anymore.
