Jonna Jinton (born June 20, 1989) is a Swedish artist, photographer, musician, and YouTuber.[2] Her website, Jonna Jinton Sweden features her art and jewelry creations. She runs an eponymous YouTube channel, featuring a variety of content, including her daily life, art, music, and adventures.[3] Her content reflects her deep connection to nature, her artistic endeavors, and her appreciation for the peaceful moments in the Swedish wilderness. As of April 2024, Jinton has 5.16 million subscribers on YouTube and 1.5 million followers on Instagram.[4]

Early life and education

Jinton was born on June 29, 1989, in Gothenburg, Sweden. She grew up in the urban environment of Gothenburg with her parents, Anita and Ulf, and two brothers, Isac and Filip.

Despite her upbringing in the city, Jinton felt disconnected from urban life. In 2010, she moved to the remote village of Grundtjärn in northern Sweden, where her mother was born and her ancestors had lived for twelve generations.

Career

Jinton started her artistic journey by documenting her new life in the northern Swedish village of Grundtjärn through blogging, photography, and writing.[5] Despite initial challenges, her content gained popularity, particularly after the release of a video showcasing life in the Swedish wilderness during the winter, which garnered millions of views internationally.[6][7]

In 2011, Jinton established her YouTube channel, focusing on nature videos, vlogs, and artistic content. Her channel experienced significant growth in 2018, establishing her as an international YouTuber with a unique niche. Her YouTube content revolves around her daily life, experiences, and activities in the northern Swedish countryside.[8]

Jinton's YouTube channel serves as a platform for her multifaceted talents, including singing, painting, filmmaking, and practicing the traditional Nordic herding call known as "kulning." Her videos feature stunning visuals and soothing music, featuring her minimalist and self-sustainable lifestyle. As of April 2024, Jinton has 5.16 million subscribers on YouTube and 1.5 million followers on Instagram.[9]

Beyond digital content creation, Jinton ventured into the jewelry-making business in 2018 with her husband. Her brand is known for producing nature-inspired jewelry, leveraging traditional craftsmanship and modern design.[10]

Additionally, Jinton is an accomplished painter, drawing inspiration from nature and offering her original artworks for sale on her website. Her artwork, often featuring natural earth pigments, reflects her deep connection to the environment and Nordic heritage. Jinton's work extends beyond digital platforms; she partnered with IKEA to sell one of her photos as a canvas.

Her contributions to art and culture have been recognized through various awards, including the Cinematography Award at the 2021 YouTube Streamy Awards.

Jinton has also ventured into music production. Her music is based on the ancient Scandinavian[11] singing technique known as kulning, which was historically used for communication with livestock. Her music is characterized by high-pitched calls and nature-inspired themes, reflecting her connection to the natural world.[12]

In February 2024, Jinton released her debut album, "Songs & Callings," featuring tracks such as "The Spirit Song," "Kulning - Calling the Spring," and "The Wolf Song."

Recently, Jinton signed with By Norse. Initially shared on her YouTube channel, her music has since expanded to major digital platforms, including Bandcamp, Amazon, YouTube Music, Spotify, and SoundCloud.[13]
