Jonathan Shore (born April 13, 2007)[1] is an American professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for New York City FC in Major League Soccer (MLS). He is a product of the NYCFC Academy and has represented the United States at youth levels.[2]
Club career
Youth career
Shore began his youth career with Manhattan Kickers FC before joining the New York City FC Academy in 2017. He progressed through all age groups and stood out for his intelligence and tactical awareness in midfield.[3]
In 2022, he participated in preseason with NYCFC's first team and appeared for the NYCFC U17 squad at the Generation Adidas Cup.
Professional career
On March 16, 2023, Shore signed a homegrown contract with New York City FC, becoming the eleventh homegrown signing in club history.[4]
He made his senior debut for New York City FC II in MLS NEXT Pro in 2023, playing two matches. In 2025, Shore made his Major League Soccer debut on February 22 against Inter Miami CF, coming on as a substitute. He made his first MLS start on March 8 against Orlando City SC, playing the full 90 minutes and earning Player of the Match.[5]
International career
Shore has represented the United States at the U15 and U16 levels. In 2023, he was called up to the U16 national team to compete in the International Dream Cup held in Japan.[6]
