Jonathan Harounoff (London, United Kingdom) is a British journalist[1] and commentator on the Middle East, focusing on politics, diplomacy and religion in Israel and Iran. He is a contributing writer at Haaretz[2], The Jerusalem Post[3], The Jewish Chronicle[4], Religion News Service [5]and The Middle East Institute[6], and has made television appearances as a guest expert on CBN News.[7] and Iran International[8].

Early life and education

Jonathan received his bachelor's degree from the University of Cambridge[9], where he studied Arabic, Persian and Middle Eastern History. He holds a master's degree[10] from Columbia Journalism School, where he served as managing editor of two papers, Trumplandia[11] and Covering Religion[12], and founded and captained the school's first-ever football team. He is also an alumnus of Harvard University, where he completed graduate studies in international relations, journalism and diplomacy while also writing for The Harvard Crimson[13] and Harvard Gazette[14]

He is a 2019 Journalism Fellow[15] at the Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics (FASPE),[16] and is also a recipient of the Scripps Howard Foundation Scholarship, the Jean and Albert Nerken Scholarship and the C.V. Starr Scholarship.
