John Sellers, oil and gas tycoon of the Texas panhandle, is the Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Double Eagle Holdings.[1]. Since 2017, his holding company's subsidiaries have sold nearly $9.2 billion to partners[2] [3]. In April 2021, Pioneer Energy Services acquired DoublePoint Energy - one of Sellers' and Double Eagle Holdings' subsidiaries - for $6.4 billion, allowing co-CEOs Sellers and Cody Campbell the splitting of $1 billion and a 11% stake in Pioneer Energy Services, valued around 27.2 million shares[4]. Sellers was originally involved in Real Estate with the same business partner, Campbell, until the housing crisis in 2008 urged them to shift gears to oil and gas[5]. Largely attributed to his upbringing in the vast plains of North Texas, Sellers attended Texas Tech University where he also played football[6]. Just recently, Sellers donated a $1 million scholarship endowment to Texas Tech University under the name of his life-changing Economics professor, Rashid B. Al-Hmoud, to whom he attributes much of his success[7]
