John Eboseyi Ehiguese (born 1960) is a Nigerian public relations professional[1][2] and founder of Mediacraft Associates, a public relations firm. [3][4][5] He was president of Public Relations Consultant Association of Nigeria (PRCAN),[6][7][8][9][10] Ehiguese currently sits on the Board of Management of International Communications Consultants Organization (ICCO).[11][12] In 2019, Ehiguese was named best Public Relations Practitioner of the year.

Early life and education

Ehiguese was born in Edo State, south-south Nigeria.[13][14]

Career

Ehiguese early career was in marketing, sales, advertising and broadcasting. His Public Relations career started at the Corporate & Financial Communications, a PR firm based in Lagos, Nigeria. [14] He was Account Director at C&F Porter Novelli, in charge of the MTN Nigeria business. In 2002, Ehiguese was Communication Consultant at the Johns Hopkins University Centre for Communication Programme (JHU-CCP).[1][12]

PRCAN presidency

In April 2016, Ehiguese led Public Relations Consultants Associoation of Nigeria, PRCAN in a collaborative campaign with Brand South Africa[15][16] in improving the external image of Nigeria which was at the time battling with image crisis. [17][18]

Ehiguese in 2017 led the Nigerian body of PR consultants in a battle against the government of Nigeria after information emerged that the Nigerian Finance Ministry hired a Uk Based PR and communications company,[19] African Practice UK for the promotion of Nigeria’s Eurobond instead of hiring local PR and Communications firms in violation of the country’s Public Procurement Act.[20][21][22] After a public outrage in support of PRCAN, Nigerian Minister of Information and Culture said the government had ordered federal ministries and agencies to include local PR firms in all their PR and communication efforts.[23][24][25]

In October 2016 Ehiguese was a member of panel of judges of ICCO Global Award 2016; the global showcase for the most effective PR from the world’s most talented practitioners.[26]

Award

Ehiguese was named Nigeria Best Public Relations Practitioner of the Year (2019) alongside Mediacraft Associates.[27][28][29]
