John E. O'Rourke is an American author and True Crime Historian. He is also a New Jersey State Police Historian as he has written three books about that organization. [1] www.arcadiapublishing.com [2] www.johneorourke.com
Background
O'Rourke was born in Pequannock, New Jersey and grew up on the outskirts of Wanaque, New Jersey. He is a 26-year veteran (retired) from the New Jersey State Police. He began his career with the elite organization in June of 1985. During his tenure O'Rourke's assignments brought him from the rural country roads of Sussex County, New Jersey to the city streets of Newark, Elizabeth and Paterson. O'Rourke authored his first book while still a trooper. That work was entitled Jersey Troopers Sacrifice at the Altar of Public Service and was published by the History Press out of Charleston, South Carolina. Since then, he has authored four other books. He retired from the state police in 2011 and besides his writing endeavors, he works as a security consultant for high-end clientele.[5] www.arcadiapublishing.com
