Early life and education
Egberts grew up in the Netherlands and later moved to Australia. He trained in several breathing and performance modalities, including the Wim Hof Method.[3]
Career
Egberts began leading breathwork and cold-exposure workshops in Australia in 2019, combining coached breathing with ice-bath immersion. Australian media outlets have covered the practice and its claimed benefits; in 2019, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation examined winter cold exposure and the Wim Hof Method in a feature that referenced local practitioners and trends.[4]
He has delivered group sessions and public demonstrations that have been featured on television and online. In 2025 he discussed ice-baths and stress management on the Seven Network's Sunrise program, describing breathwork and cold exposure as tools some people use for sleep, burnout and recovery.[5]
Since 2019 Egberts has taught a wide range of breathwork modalities, including holotropic breathwork.[6] He is also a freediving instructor and mountain guide.[7]
Egberts has worked with athletes like Harry Garside. In 2025, the Olympic boxer credited breathwork training with Egberts as part of his preparation to resume professional competition following the Paris Olympics.[8]
Egberts founded ″Breathless Pty Ltd″ (often referred to as 'Breathless') in 2018 to deliver breathwork instructor training, retreats and experiences.[9]
Publications
Egberts is the author of The Cold Therapy Plan: 28 days to reduce stress, enhance sleep and promote recovery (Simon & Schuster Australia, 2025). The book outlines a structured approach to integrating cold exposure and breathwork and was listed by Australian bookseller Booktopia with a January 2025 publication date.[10]
Podcast and media appearances
Egberts has been interviewed about his personal background and breathwork practices on Ant Middleton's Head Game podcast, where he discussed adopting breathwork and cold immersion and their role in his coaching career. The episode was distributed via Nova/Star 104.5's podcast platforms and other directories.[11] In December 2024 he appeared on a Dutch podcast to discuss his work and forthcoming book.[12]

In 2023 Egberts collaborated with the University of Queensland and co-authored the research paper Breathwork interventions for adults with clinically diagnosed anxiety disorders: a scoping review, which looked at the effects of breathwork on anxiety.[13]
