Johan Egerkrans (born March 22, 1978) is a Swedish writer and illustrator. He illustrates both his own works and the works of others. His first book, as both author and illustrator, Vaesen[1] was published in 2013 (Nordiska Väsen)[2] and describes the creatures of Nordic folklore. He has subsequently released the works Norse Gods,[3][4] The Undead[5][6] and Dragons.[7][8][9] He has illustrated works of internationally acclaimed authors such as J. R. R. Tolkien,[10][11] Astrid Lindgren[12][13] and Isaac Bashevis Singer.[14]

In 2020 Vaesen was adapted into a table-top roleplaying game [15] by Free League Publishing, the game was awarded Best Cover Art, Best Interior Art and Best Monster at the 2021 ENNIE awards.[16] Johan also illustrated the new edition of the Swedish classic roleplaying game Drakar & Demoner/Dragonbane.[17]

In 2021 Johan was awarded the Elsa Beskow Plaque for his body of work.[18]
