Joey Majors (born Marshall Joseph Majors on December 26, 1974) is a hip-hop artist and the CEO of the VIP Life Music Group label[1]. He has collaborated with artists such as Prodigy from Mobb Deep, Raekwon, and Jadakiss[2].

Early Life

Majors grew up in Batavia, a small city in western New York, between Rochester and Buffalo.

He dropped out of high school and served time in jail[3]. Upon his release, Majors went back to finish his diploma. In college, he started a rap group with his roommate in New Jersey, influenced by pioneers of the hip-hop industry such as Grandmaster Flash and Whodini and artists like KRS-One, EPMD, and Nas.

Career

Joey Majors later transferred to The University at Buffalo. Majors and his group were signed to Hood Records after inviting the team to watch them perform live.

Joey's neighbor and professional football player Erik Harris reached out during his time with the LA Raiders asking Joey for music to warm up for his games. Joey’s previous producer Merc Beatz also introduced Majors to rap group Griselda, a collective from upstate New York. It was then he connected with the audience who wanted the music he was creating.

Joey released a single, "Boss Moves," featuring Benny The Butcher, from Griselda. He’s collaborated with Jadakiss, 38 Spesh, Boldly James, Mooch (da cloth), Rigz (da cloth), Stove God Cooks, and Smif-N-Wessun. He released his album Wolf In Sheep Clothing with features from Splash God, Big Yount, ETO, and many more in December of 2022[4][5]. He also released the hit single “The Plug” with rapper The Game[6]. In 2023 he plans to release a new EP with ETO.

Majors is currently developing a clothing line with plans to release merchandise soon on the VIP Life Music site. He also has new projects and videos that will continue to be released in 2023 under his roster of artists at VIP Life.
