Joe Dolce (IPAc-en|d|ɒ|l|tʃ|eɪ)[2] is an American magazine editor, journalist and non-fiction writer.
He was editor-in-chief for Details[1] and Star magazine,[3] and has contributed to Culture+Travel[3] and HuffPost.[4]
Career
In 1994, Dolce was named editor-in-chief of Details magazine, having previously been a features editor at Vogue.[1] He had left the position by 1999.[5]
In the late 1990s, Dolce helped actress-turned-author Galaxy Craze get her first book, By the Shore, published by showing it to book editor Jonathan Burnham at Grove Atlantic | Grove/Atlantic.[5][6]
He was the editor-in-chief of Star magazine[3] beginning in 2003.[7] Dolce's contract with Star expired on March 31, 2007.[8]
After leaving Star, Dolce founded his own communications firm in 2008.[9]
In 2016, Dolce wrote a book about cannabis entitled Brave New Weed: Adventures into the Uncharted World of Cannabis. He was inspired to pursue the project after being treated with medical cannabis for chronic pain. The experience led him to become a cannabis educator and advocate.[10] Dolce seeks to dispel "propaganda, disinformation and questionable science" that has influenced the public's perception of cannabis and the drug's illegality.[11]
Personal Life
Dolce identifies as gay.[10]
He supported Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential election.[12]
