Dr. Jobymon Skaria is a theologian, scholar, and adjunct lecturer whose work primarily focusses on religious education, interdisciplinary theological research, and pedagogical methodologies.[1] He holds a PhD in Theology from Dublin City University (2020), where his research focused on postcolonial identity, Dalit theology, and the reception of Abrahamic traditions in the ancient world.[2] Dr. Skaria has been involved in teaching at the university level for over five years, with roles in curriculum development, student supervision, and academic mentorship.[3][4]
Dr. Skaria is known for his book Dalit Theology, Boundary Crossings and Liberation in India: Biblical and Postcolonial Study (Bloomsbury, 2022), which approaches Dalit theology from the perspective of a St. Thomas Christian scholar.[5] He has also contributed to peer-reviewed journals such as Vetus Testamentum[6] and Biblische Notizen,[7] focusing on theological issues related to postcolonial identity and religious interpretation, particularly in the context of ancient Israel.
Currently, Dr. Skaria holds adjunct and visiting lecturer positions at St. Patrick's College, Maynooth, and the Malankara Syrian Orthodox Theological Seminary.[8] While he continues to mentor students, his approach to academic mentorship has been viewed by some as overly focused on niche theological areas, with limited application to broader theological or interdisciplinary discussions.[9] His efforts to guide international students and migrants have been acknowledged, although the long-term impact of these initiatives is not universally agreed upon.
