Joakim Kusti Paasikivi, born 20 August 1960, in Stockholm, Sweden is a Swedish military officer (Lieutenant colonel).
He is currently serving as a teacher in military strategy the Swedish Defence University.
Biography
Paasikivi was born in Stockholm to finnish parents. He is of Finnish and Estonian decent, and is the grandson of former Finnish president Juho Kusti Paasikivi.
He completed his basic military training as a conscript at the Nyland Brigade in Finland and at the Norrland Dragoon Regiment in Sweden.[1]
He finished his officer training at the Swedish Military Academy Karlberg in 1987.[2]
1993 he was promoted to the rank of Captain and served at the Svea Life Guards Regiment during the 1990s.[3]
He served as a teacher at the Baltic Defence College in Estonia, and later at the Swedish Military Intelligence and Security Service.[1][4]
He rose to public prominence in the wake of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine when he was regularly invited to Swedish and international media as an expert.
