Early life and education
Jimmy McLoughlin is the son of Lord Patrick McLoughlin, a former chairman of the Conservative Party and a former transport secretary. Patrick McLoughlin was appointed Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster by Prime Minister Theresa May in July 2016. Jimmy McLoughlin studied Political Science at the University of Birmingham and studied entrepreneurship on the Ignite course at Stanford University.
Career
Before joining the UK government, Jimmy McLoughlin worked as the Head of External Affairs at the Institute of Directors for two years until June 2016. Prior to that, he worked on Boris Johnson's 2008 London mayoral election campaign.
As a writer, McLoughlin has contributed articles to several publications, including The Times, Daily Mail, and City AM. He now hosts the podcast[2] Jimmy's Jobs of the Future, which has featured guests such as Rishi Sunak, Andrew Bailey, Michelle Donelan, and Ben Francis.
