Bell is also the guitarist in the hard rock band, House of Lords, joining that band in 2005,[1] which released its eighth studio album "New World - New Eyes" in May of 2020.

Background, Influences and Career

Jimi Bell (James S. Bell), was born to Joseph and Jennie Bell in Manchester, CT on January 31, 1958. Although he played other instruments from a young age, he is known only for his guitar work.[2] Bell's major influences include Johnny Winter, Ritchie Blackmore and Al DiMeola.[3] He is a left-handed guitar player.

In the 1980s, Bell formed the metal band, Joined Forces.[4][5] The band toured with Joan Jett in 1986, resulting in their appearance in the 1987 film Light of Day[6] with Michael J. Fox. Bell both acted in the film, and appeared on lead guitar with Joined Forces as Joan Jett's backup band, "The Hunzz."[7]

After auditioning to be Ozzy Osborne's guitarist in 1987,[8] the spot for which Zakk Wylde was ultimately selected, Bell played lead guitar in The Geezer Butler Band, led by its namesake, the bassist from Black Sabbath. Bell also wrote the music to Black Sabbath's "Master of Insanity," which appears on their Dehumanizer album, though he did not receive album credit for the work.[9] He has recorded with numerous other bands and artists, including Cannata, Thunderhead and original Metal Church singer, David Wayne.[10]

Bell joined the band Autograph in 2019, and has toured with them since. Their first single together, "Souls on Fire," was released in May, 2020.[11] In addition to Autograph and House of Lords, Bell is associated with a number of other acts, currently playing guitar in the bands Maxx Explosion, Beyond Purple, Straight Shooter, Wicked Gypsies, Diamondback, and Bottoms Up.

Bell was inducted into the New England Music Hall of Fame in March of 2020.[12] In 2018 he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from All that Shreds magazine.[13]

Corporate Work

Bell has done significant studio work for corporations such as ESPN, WWE and NASCAR.[14]

He is an official endorser for numerous music industry giants, including Roberts Guitar, Viper Guitars, Charvel Guitars, PVX Guitar, Funk Guitars, Ovation Guitars, GHS Strings[15], Rocktron, Randall, Marshall Amps (Europe), and KickAss Cables.[16]

Bell also invented the "Shred Neck" - a practice device for guitar and bass players.[17]
