Jiangsu is a province of the People's Republic of China located in the eastern-central coastline region. With its capital in Nanjing, it is one of China's most prosperous provinces in terms of money, education, technology, and tourism. Jiangsu is the third-smallest province in the People's Republic of China, although it is the fifth-most populous and the most densely inhabited of the country's 23 provinces. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Jiangsu has the greatest GDP per capita of all Chinese provinces and the second-highest GDP of all Chinese provinces, behind Guangdong. Jiangsu has borders with Shandong to the north, Anhui to the west, Zhejiang and Shanghai to the south, and Hong Kong to the east. Jiangsu province has a coastline that stretches for more than 1,000 kilometres (620 miles) along the Yellow Sea, and the Yangtze River flows through the province's southern region.
