Jeremy Meciaz is an Indonesian sports figure, particularly in kickboxing and muay thai.[1][2] Meciaz is best known as the President of WBC Muay Thai Indonesia in 2021 before Urgyen Rinchen Sim, and holds several strategic positions in national and international martial arts organizations.[3][4][5]
Position and Management
In February 2021, Jeremy Meciaz was officially appointed President of the Indonesian Kickboxing Federation (WKF).[6] This appointment was officially announced through the World Kickboxing Federation website. Prior to this position, Meciaz also served as Chairman of the Surakarta branch of the Kickboxing Indonesia (KBI) Regional Management for the 2019-2024 period.
In addition, at the end of October 2021, Meciaz was appointed President of the World Boxing Council (WBC) Muay Thai Indonesia by Police General Kovid Bhakdibhumi, President of the WBC Muay Thai World. This appointment makes Meciaz and Predator MMA Indonesia the official representatives of WBC International in Indonesia.[7]
Policy and Work Program
With his position as President of WKF Indonesia, Meciaz determined that the organization would no longer be under the umbrella of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI), but rather stand as the official representative of the World Kickboxing Federation for Indonesia.[8]
Meciaz's work program as President of WKF Indonesia includes organizing an international kickboxing competition in 2022, covering amateur, pro-am, and professional categories. To realize this program, WKF Indonesia plans to work with Predator MMA Indonesia as a provider of facilities, logistics, and media broadcasting.[9][10][11]
As President of WBC Muay Thai Indonesia, Meciaz plans to organize the first WBC Muay Thai bout in Indonesia, as well as an upgrading of muay thai referees and judges. The main objectives of WBC's presence in Indonesia are to produce muay thai athletes for the WBC Muay Thai world championships and facilitate prestigious muay thai matches in Indonesia.[12]
Contribution and Purpose
Jeremy Meciaz hopes that with the existence of WKF Indonesia and WBC Muay Thai Indonesia, promoters who want to hold kickboxing and muay thai matches can hold them under the umbrella of an international organization without having to affiliate with KONI. This is expected to accelerate the development of both martial arts sports in Indonesia.[13]
As a WBC Muay Thai Indonesia matchmaker, Meciaz also has the important task of facilitating quality muay thai matches and ensuring that every match held has a clear legal entity, so it is not illegal.[14]
