Jerahn D. Hyman (born June 4, 1988) is the host of the Hyman Podcast, an American businessman, professor, author, YouTuber, and Chief Operating Officer for the Press Play Podcast Network. Hyman received national attention when he was named a Top 100 U.S. Business Leader by the Top 100 Magazine.
Education
Hyman earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Ohio Christian University in 2011. He also earned is Master of Business Administration degree from the same institution in 2015. Hyman earned is Doctor of Business Administration degree from Walden University in 2020. He completed his doctoral dissertation under Rollis D. Erickson, PhD. His dissertation titled Strategies for Reducing Voluntary Employee Turnover in the Food Service[1] Industry was published in 2020.
Research
Beginning in 2016, Hyman conducted extensive research[2][1][3] on the subject of employee turnover, Employee retention|retention, and transformational leadership[4][5]. In his penultimate work, Hyman discussed the merits of transformational leadership and it's effects on the workforce[6] from both a managerial and employee perspective. In his research, Hyman uncovered four themes or strategies that were proven methods for reducing turnover: consideration[1], knowledge sharing[1], effective leadership through leadership development[1], and strong teamwork dynamics[1]. Hyman's research was focused through the conceptual framework of transformative leadership using the work of Bernard Bass[5][7] and James Burns[8] who were pioneers in the development of the tenants of transformational leadership.
Business Career
Hyman was a Tax Examiner for the Ohio Department of Taxation as well as a Program Specialist for the Ohio Department of Education from 2015 - 2019. After leaving the public sector, Hyman joined the private sector working as a Business Manager for Wellpath before taking the helm of operations at the Press Play Podcast Network, a podcast network that specializes in developing storytellers from everyday people. For his work with the network, growing the network more than 600%, he was awarded a Top 100 U.S. Business Leader. In 2012, he worked as a campaign coordinator for his former teacher and mentor, Dave Garrison, who ran in the 2012 United States House of Representatives elections in Texas|2012 Texas 25th Congressional race.
Podcast
Hyman is the host of the Hyman Podcast, a podcast he created in 2020 in the wake of the murder of George Floyd and the subsequent George Floyd protests|riots that shook the nation in an effort to create a platform to have difficult conversations about race, politics, societal trends, and equality. Over the course of his podcast, Hyman has covered a variety of topics that center around the plight of African Americans. Hyman has covered other topics including the Murdaugh family|Murdaugh family murders, Black genocide, the 2020 United States presidential election|2020 presidential election, and the 2021 United States Capitol attack|2021 US Capital attack.

Books
Hyman published a series of Young adult fiction|young adult novels beginning in 2013. The premise of the novels revolve around the titular character Archie Curwen who unwittingly uncovers a massive criminal conspiracy to infect an entire nation with a near incurable disease. Archie along with his friends, JP and Addison work together to bring the culprits to justice.
In an article published by the Circleville Herald, Hyman nods his work to the students of Circleville City Schools in Circleville, Ohio|Circleville Ohio. It was during his time working in the school district as a program director for the Extra Mile[9] after school program where he was first inspired to pen the series. The three part series dubbed the Archie Curwen Chronicles includes Seven Days, The Stuff of Heroes, and Champion of Darkness. In 2013, while promoting his book launch, Hyman was a featured speaker at TEDxColumbus. His talk, Here's the Kids paid homage to and challenged students to chase their aspirations.
