Jenny Halpern Prince
Jenny Halpern Prince (née Halpern) is a British philanthropist and businesswoman.[1] [2]
Early life
Jenny Halpern Prince was born in Kingston Upon Thames. She is the daughter of Sir Ralph Halpern, the former CEO of Burton Group and founder of Topshop [3] and Lady (Joan) Halpern. She was educated at Roedean School and St Catherine’s School.
Philanthropy
Jenny Halpern Prince co-founded Access Aspiration [4] in 2012, an educational charity promoting social mobility via aspirational work placements and introductions. They have worked with 31 schools, securing over three and a half thousand work placements. [5]
In 2014, The Lady Garden Foundation,[6] a national women’s health charity, was co-founded by eight women, including Jenny Halpern Prince, who now chairs the charity. Their aim is to increase awareness and raise funds to fight the five gynecological cancers, to date they have raised over £1m. Their funding has gone to gynecological research, supporting Dr. Susana Banerjee’s personalized therapies research program. [7]
The Lady Garden Foundation is affiliated with celebrities such as Cara Delevingne, Victoria Pendleton, Dame Helena Morrissey, Arizona Muse, Samantha Cameron and Storm Keating. The Foundation hosts an annual Ladies Lunch at Fortnum & Mason [8], a bi-annual Gala Dinner at Claridge’s [9] [10] and an annual 5k/10k run in London to raise funds for the Foundation amongst other smaller events and brand partnerships. The Lady Garden Foundation is a proud member of The Royal Marsden Hospital Cancer Charity's President’s Circle, recognizing exceptional philanthropic support. The President’s Circle is presided over by HRH The Duke of Cambridge, President of The Royal Marsden. Philanthropic support enables The Royal Marsden to achieve transformational progress for cancer patients in the UK and around the world.[12]
Jenny also sat on the board of Great Ormond Street Hospital for 7 years, in which time she set up extremely successful partnerships with Center Parcs and The White Company. She also recognised an urgent need within the hospital to provide vital, life-saving equipment, and subsequently set up ‘Save the Day’ for the hospital, raising £1.3 million. [13]
Career
Jenny Halpern Prince began her career as a PR Officer at Joseph. She founded Halpern PR [14] in 1993, with initial clients including Marks and Spencer and Burberry. Halpern was one of the first agencies in London to create a specialist celebrity and influencer division.[15]. Their clients now include Google, Five Guys, UGG, and Dermalogica.
Halpern PR was partly acquired by WPP in 2014 when Jenny Halpern Prince sold a percentage of the business to The&Partnership. [16] [17] The&Partnership is a global future-focused agency comprising of eight agencies, their clients include Toyota and Talk Talk.
Personal Life
Jenny Halpern Prince and her husband, Ryan Prince, have non-identical twin girls (born 2009) and a son (born 2016) and live in West London, with their golden retriever, Hendrix.
