Jemisha Maadhavji (b. 1996) is an artist from Leicester, England. Her work explores individuals from different cultural backgrounds, personalities and gender. She works is a figurative style, mainly in oil colour, and her paintings are characterized by bold fabric patterns and striking colours.
Maadhavji studied Fine Art at De Montfort University, Leicester, graduating with a first class honours degree in 2018. She went on to complete a master’s degree at the same university in 2022.[1]
In 2023 Maadhavji appeared on the BBC1 programme Extraordinary Portraits presented by comedian Bill Bailey, where she was seen painting a portrait of NHS doctor Grace Spence Green.[2]
Maadhavji has exhibited work in a number of venues across the UK, including a solo exhibition at Nottingham Castle Museum & Art Gallery in July 2023.[3] She has also been featured in Harper’s Bazaar[4] and Vogue Magazines.[5]
