Jelena Živanović (neé Galonić; May 9|May 9, 1970, Belgrade) is Serbian singer and songwriter. She has been lead singer of Serbian group Zana since early 1990s.

Early life

Jelena Živanović graduated from Mokranjac school of music, department of piano and solo singing.

As child, she was an incredibly curious child who in addition to being hyperactive. During the time of her birth, her mother was 35 and her father was 40.[1]

Career

After singing many backing vocals to the biggest Yugoslav pop stars, she joined the group at the end of 1990, on the recommendation of Goran Bregović.[2] During 1991, Zana released album Nisam, nisam.

In 1993, Zana released album Tražim which was their last album on vinyl and first album on CD. In late 1995, Zana released compilation album Zlatni hitovi 1980-1995 including two new songs (cover of Alen Vitasović's Gušti su gušti and Modrice). In late spring 1997, album Zanomanija (named after Beatlemania) was released for PGP RTS. Zana's last album of 1990s Prijatelji was released day before NATO bombing of Yugoslavia.

In 2001, Zana moved to City records and released album 21 that remarked 21st anniversary of group and begin of 21st century. Group's latest album Kao nekad was released in 2006.

Personal life

In 2008, Jelena married her colleague Zoran Živanović.[3][4] She is stepmother of Zoran's daughters from previous marrige.[5]
