Biography
Jeff Dale's musical journey began with a deep appreciation for the blues, drawing inspiration as a teenager from local Chicago legendary figures such as Muddy Waters, and Howlin' Wolf. He developed a raw guitar style characterized by its slide work and emotive phrasing. Dale's vocals, often described as gritty and soulful, further enhance the authenticity of his performances.
Dale has performed his original material since 1975, building a reputation for his energetic live shows. He has backed legendary blues originators such as Lowell Fulson, Pee Wee Crayton and David “Honeyboy” Edwards as well as shared the stage with other notable blues musicians. His “Blue Wave Band” released two albums in the 1980s. He started his current band “The South Woodlawners” in the 2000s.
Musical Style and Influences
Dale's musical style is firmly rooted in the electrified Chicago blues he heard growing up on the south side of Chicago. He expands on those roots, often adding unexpected instrumentation to his recordings such as cello, bassoon, violin and oboe.
