Jeanna Repass (born 1970 or 1971) is an American politician and activist who is currently serving as the Chair of the Kansas Democratic Party. She was elected in February 2023 against former State Treasurer Lynn Rogers.

Early life

Jeanna Orduna White was born in 1970 or 1971. She grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and graduated from Omaha Central High School. [1] She attended Midland University with a major in biology, but did not graduate.[2]

2022 Kansas Secretary of State Campaign

On May 17, 2022, Repass announced her intention to run for Kansas Secretary of State.[3] She would have been the first woman of color to hold statewide office in Kansas. She was unchallenged in the Democratic primary, but Republican nominee and Secretary of State Scott Schwab defeated Repass in the November election. Following the election, Repass' former campaign manager Nicole Aghaaliandastjerdi sued Repass for $4,000 in unpaid wages. [4] A Johnson County judge ordered Repass to pay $3,226 to Aghaaliandastjerdi in April 2023.

Tenure as Kansas Democratic Party Chair

Repass announced a bid for chair of the Kansas Democratic Party on January 21, 2023, joining former Kansas State Treasurer Lynn Rogers. [5] She was elected by the Kansas Democratic Party State Committee on February 25, 2023. Repass defeated Rogers 122 votes to 107.[6] Repass had been endorsed by Kansas Governor Laura Kelly, Representative Sharice Davids, Kansas Senate Minority Leader Dinah Sykes, and Kansas House Minority Leader Vic Miller.[7]

Personal life

Repass married Kyle Repass on May 12, 2003.[1] The couple have three children - Adam, Ariel, and Christian. [8]
