Jean Ponce is an French computer scientist and Global Distinguished Professor at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences and the Center for Data Science of New York University (NYU), as well as a Professor at the Department of Computer Science of Ecole normale supérieure - PSL.[1][2] Ponce was formerly the senior editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Computer Vision and is currently on the honorary board.[3] Prior to joining ENS, he held positions with Inria, MIT, Stanford University, and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.[4]
Ponce is the author of Computer Vision, A Modern Approach along with David Forsyth. He is a highly cited researcher in the field of computer vision with an h-index of 87.[5]
