Jaydeep Sarkar (born 22 April 1979) is an Indian filmmaker, writer, and director, most prominently known for Nayantara's Necklace (2014), Times Out & Proud (2019), and Rainbow Rishta (2023).[1][2]
Career
Jaydeep Sarkar started his career assisting Sudhir Mishra on the film 'Chameli', later going on to collaborate with him as a screenwriter on the script of 'Khoya Khoya Chand.' Sarkar has written films like 'Shaurya,' and the iconic television series 'Remix'. Sarkar has worked as an Assistant Director to Anurag Kashyap and with Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment as a showrunner and writer for the hit Disney Television Series – 'Ishaan.'[3][4]
In 2014, Sarkar directed the acclaimed short film 'Nayantara's Necklace,' starring Konkona Sen Sharma and Tillotama Shome.[5][6][7][8][9] He has also written the official Hindi adaptation of 'The Vagina Monologues' - 'Kissa Yoni Ka', which has had more than two hundred shows across India.[10] In 2019, he directed the 'Times of India' film #OutAndProud. Sarkar's long-format series, the highly acclaimed Amazon Original 'Rainbow Rishta', premiered at the prestigious MAMI Film Festival in November 2023.[11][12][13][14][15][16][17]
Within the realm of advertising, Jaydeep has made over two hundred television commercials for India's leading brands – such as Lux, Nestle, Pepsi, Horlicks, Hindustan Unilever, [ITC, and Lifebuoy.[3]
