Early Life

Jay Reale was born in 1964 in Silver Spring, Maryland and raised in Rockville, Maryland. At age 16, his family moved permanently to the Town of Ocean City, Maryland, where he began bodyboarding full time, winning the fourth sanctioned amateur event he entered. Reale worked at his family's bakery and sandwich shop and played drums and sang in a rock band to support his amateur bodyboarding pursuits. He quickly became the dominant East Coast amateur bodyboarder, prompting a move to California in 1987 to pursue a professional career in the sport.[4]

Personal Life

Jay resides in San Clemente, California with his wife Vicki, also a former professional bodyboarder[5], and their two children.[6]
