Joshua William Middleton, professionally known as Jay Midas (/,dʒeɪ,maɪdəs/) (born January 24, 2001), is a professional ‘Emo’ rapper and owner of independent record label ‘714 Records’.

He grew up listening to the local bands his father had played for him as a child. As he got older, he started listening to bands such as The All-American Rejects, Sum 41, We The Kings and many more. Joshua moved around schools as a child. He mixed with many other people his age, who helped fire his love for music. As he got older, he began listening to rappers such as J. Cole, Kanye West and Wutang Clan, to name a few.

When Joshua was only 10 years old, he began playing classical guitar. He had lessons for approximately a year and then taught himself from YouTube, online tabs, etc. When Joshua was 14, he realised his first song to SoundCloud on his first page, ‘Josh Middleton’ titled: ‘All Open’. It was an instrumental played on his acoustic guitar. As he got older, a friend at one of his schools showed him how to use the music software: Logic Pro X. Jay Midas started playing around with the software and started making rap songs. Eventually, he started crossing his music with Pop Punk, Math Rock and Emo Trap to get his unique sound he has today. He first uploaded his songs to all platforms on 11th November 2019 and continues to do so and to grow in popularity.
