Biography

Sandler grew up in Dallas, TX and was a rabid sports fan from a very early age. His father, Alan, and brothers Darryn and Jason, were very involved in athletics and were outstanding athletes. Jared was a very good athlete himself graduating from Greenhill School (Addison, Texas) decorated as a football, basketball, and baseball player. Sandler's parents both came from South Africa and moved to America in the late 1970s.

Jared attended the University of Southern California where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a minor in Entrepreneurial Studies while also serving as a part of the baseball program. While in college, Sandler got his first real exposure to broadcast as a participant on student broadcasts for a number of sports[3]. He also spent summers interning at KTCK (AM) The Ticket as well as with the Texas Rangers (baseball) where he forged a relationship with his mentor, Hall of Fame broadcaster Eric Nadel[4].

Prior to joining the Rangers, Sandler was a broadcaster for the Great Falls Voyagers and the Great Lakes Loons. While with the Loons, Sandler hosted CrunchTime, an afternoon drive sports talk show, and also broadcasted for Central Michigan University.

Charity

Jared founded the Sandlot Children's Charity in 2017, an organization that provides financial assistance for kids with physical and intellectual disabilities, specifically for those who are in pursuit of athletic opportunities and sport specific experiences. The charity's goal is to not only deliver enjoyable activities, but to also promote the continued development of social and leadership skills for these inspiring youth. Sandler received the 2021 Mary Henry Humanitarian Award for his community work[5]

Personal Life

In 2018, Sandler married Emily Schneider. His oldest brother, Darryn, is a high school basketball coach at Greenhill School and has led his team to two SPC Championships[6]. Jared's father, Alan, is a decorated soccer coach and has been named the Tapps Boys Soccer Coach of the Year in Texas[7]. While Jared didn't get into coaching long term, he did spend one season coaching under his own high school coach, Bucknell Bison Hall of Famer Jaye Andrews , at Greenhill School. On that team was future award-winning filming director and actor Cooper Raiff[8]. Jared is not related to Adam Sandler's nephew, Jared, although they both attended the University of Southern California.[9]
