January Maul, or James or Jany and sometimes Maull, was a state legislator from Benton, Alabama in Lowndes County. He served in the Alabama House of Representatives in 1873.[1][2] He was described as being illiterate.[3]
He and Charles F. Hrabowski signed a letter about election issues.[4]
Benton was settled on land owned by James Maull and was initially known as Maull's Landing before being renamed and incorporated as Benton in 1834.[5]
