Janet A. W. Elliott is a Canadian engineering scientist and leading researcher in thermodynamics. Elliott is distinguished professor in the University of Alberta Faculty of Engineering (Chemical and Materials Engineering Dept) and holder of a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Thermodynamics.[1]. She studies the physics of surfaces, such as liquid-vapor boundaries. Elliott has developed and applied theoretical thermodynamic models to understand how to preserve living tissue through cooling it without significant damage.

Janet Elliott is a fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering[2], Chemical Institute of Canada[3], and Canadian Academy of Engineering[4]. In 2022, she was named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.[5]
