Jamie Butterworth is an English plantsman, an author and broadcaster. He is a contributor to the ITV show Love Your Weekend,[1] and a presenter on the BBC's Gardeners' World.[2]
Early Life
Butterworth was born in Wakefield in West Yorkshire in 1994.[3] Butterworth attended Askham Bryan College[4] in York before going on to study at RHS Garden Wisley, Surrey.[4]
Career
One of Butterworth's first jobs in horticulture was working as a Show Plant Manager, liaising with designers at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.[4]
In 2016, aged 21, Butterworth became an ambassador or the RHS.[5]
In 2019, he designed 'The Wedgwood Garden'[6] at RHS Chatsworth Flower Show 2019, winning all four primary medals: Gold, Best Show Garden, Best Construction and People's Choice Award - the only person to have done that at an RHS show.[7]
At the start of 2020, a couple of months before Covid, Butterworth opened his nursery, Form Plants.[8]
Butterworth delivered the gold medal-winning Main Avenue garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show for Korean designer Jihae Hwang[9] in 2023.[10]
Butterworth grew the plants for Carol Klein's garden at RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival 2023 and co-designed the main feature garden in 2024 at RHS Hampton Court.[11]
In May 2025, Butterworth and his team grew the plants for, and delivered, Monty Don's 'RHS and Radio 2 Dog Garden'[12][13][14] at RHS Chelsea Flower Show.[15]
